ISGC By Laws



Islamic Society of Greater Columbus (ISGC) is a non-profit non-governmental organization founded in late seventies as Muslim Students Association and in August 1991 its named changed to ISGC. Since then, ISGC is conducting religious, educational, cultural, social, philanthropic and other activities in the best traditions of Islam.



ISGC by will of Allah (SWT) helps people in improving their situation and restoring dignity and honor to their lives by helping them in many different ways.


A few of the ISGC activities are:

  • Provide food and shelter assistance to homeless.
  • Provide medical expenses to the people who do not have health insurance.
  • Help people who are jobless by providing an opportunity to improve their skills at finding a job.
  • Help in the expansion of Sunrise Academy the full time Islamic school.
  • Provide educational scholarship for the children in Sunrise full time school.
  • Provide financial help to the needy in the form of Zakat-Al Mal or loan.
  • Collect and distribute Zakat Al-Fitr during the month of Ramadan to help needy families.
  • Arrange Friday prayers at two places and Eid prayers.
  • Family Counseling.
  • Run AlManar Weekend Islamic School
  • Promote friendly relations in the community.
  • Provide funeral services for deceased Muslims.
  • Conduct monthly workshops about Islam.

ISGC has the following sub-organizations:

1.Sunrise Academy: Sunrise Academy was inaugurated as the first full-time chartered Islamic school in Central Ohio in 1996. The school is located at 5657 Scioto Darby Road, Hilliard, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. Sunrise Academy now provides academic programs for Kindergarten through 10th grade. Our high qualified and talented staff comes from a variety of rich cultural backgrounds. Their commitment to the Sunrise Academy philosophy gives them the role of active agents in the process of academic excellence. All of our teachers are certified to teach in the state of Ohio. 2. Al-ManarWeekend School: Weekend School for children between the ages 4 – 14, which provides both Arabic and English language programs, teaching Quran, Islamic studies and Arabic language. The classes are held on Sat and Sun at 5657 Scioto Darby Road, Hilliard OH 43026. Please call (614) 588-9352 for further details.

3. Islamic Social Services: It offers compassionate Islamic-based care to all the needy and provides essential services that strengthen families and lead to self-sufficiency. Please call ISGC at (614) 326-1111 for further details.
